A CONVERSATION WITH TRUSTILE

Laura U Design Collective (LUDC): We love your vision, "you redefine the door category by making doors an indispensable interior design element." Can you talk a little bit about what this means and how TruStile continues to push the envelope of design with your products?

TruStile (TS): Doors are often overlooked when it comes to the design process, but they are one of the few parts of a home that exist in every space. TruStile doors transform the whole home experience, elevating the look, feel, and flow of a space. We’re always looking for new and compelling design elements to incorporate into our offering, and we want to make it easy for customers to create a one-of-a-kind door package that stands out in their custom home.

LUDC: Some homeowner's may not realize there are different quality of doors. Your products are made to order to a client's exact specifications. Can you tell us the advantages of using TruStile doors?

TS: Many other manufacturers offer a stocked, hollow core product. Because every TruStile door is made to order, it allows customers to customize every detail – the material, size, profile, application – and add unique details to match any architectural style. TruStile doors are built in the U.S. and built to last with a limited lifetime warranty. You can count on our design tools and team to help you get every detail right and bring your vision to life.

Laura selected the TMIR4000 modern door to use throughout the interior of the home.

LUDC: For the Mountain Lane Show House, Laura selected the TMIR4000 modern door to use throughout the interior of the home, some will be pocket doors while other swing doors. Can you discuss how the same style door can be used differently throughout a space?

TS: Because each door is made to order, it gives our customers ultimate flexibility when deciding on the opening type. Tighter spaces might benefit from a sliding application like a barn door or pocket door. It’s a great idea to add built-in mirrors to the back of closet and bathroom doors. We’ve added more standard machining options over the years to make these types of doors even easier to specify.

LUDC: In addition, your doors are made with authentic stile and rail construction. Can you talk a little about your construction and application methods?

TS: Our doors are built with a blend of old world craftsmanship and modern technology, using only the highest quality materials. You can see and feel the difference in a TruStile door in the authentic architectural details and with the heavy swing weight. Other door manufacturers use hollow cores and route or stamp their designs on. Stile and rail construction creates crisp, clean lines. Our Tru&Modern wood flush doors have 1/16” thick hand-matched veneers. Our MDF is super-refined and engineered for maximum stability and durability. We put great care into every door we make. From the materials we select to our exacting craft and design, we engineer for quality that sets the tone for the whole home.

LUDC: TruStile offers entry systems in addition to interior doors. Can you tell us about the different options available?

TS: Almost all of our 500+ interior doors can be specified as an entry system. We’ve put together over 80 “Featured Entry Systems” grouped by architectural style. These capture current trends and offer inspiration to get started. Customers can also choose any layout of door, transoms, and sidelites, and fully configure them to meet their needs. Our entry systems are available in many popular exterior-grade wood species and also paint-grade Mahogany.

LUDC: In what part of the renovation or building process should homeowners be selecting interior and exterior doors?

TS: We believe doors elevate the whole home experience and so they should be selected along with other major decisions that affect the design of the home. The entry door decision will come earlier in the process than the interior doors, but they are all tied together.

LUDC: Anything else you want to share?

TS: A very helpful tool for professionals and homeowners alike is our new and improved Door Design Tool. Anyone can create a free account which allows them to design multiple doors at one time, save them to a project that is stored in their dashboard, and export a schedule, drawings, and DXF files. We can even connect customers to a local dealer for budget pricing once they are finished with their project. Learn more at trustile.com/designtool
